HEDI SLIMANE LEAVES
SAINT LAURENT

Nobody expected that Hedi Slimane would step out of the House of Saint Laurent. Especially, after his last collection…

No mourning. Only silence and extreme notions. Because Hedi Slimane is not Karl Lagerfeld; even though it has been mentioned that he would succeed him at the House of Chanel. For the time being, it is highly possible that he will mount his own label with his signature written all over with the boldest fonts he could find. He’s already been talking to the same subsidizers as Valentino and Moschino, in order to return to the catwalks and express his own “point of view”. It will officially be announced, it’s just a matter of time.  The 48-year-old French designer does not cry out, he prefers to act on his own terms. He doesn’t handle publicity fluently, he is rather shy and sparing in his interviews.

Whatever he has to say, he expresses it mainly through black and white photographs in his “Diary”, which is religiously reproduced by his followers. They are the same people who say that maybe Hedi Slimane didn’t fit so much to YSL’s style. That is better to flourish alone or as a creative director of a different historical House.

However, according to Harvard Business Review, Hedi Slimane is the “Steve Jobs of fashion”. He turned everything upside down.  He abolished the limits. The outcome? A shy rebel that brought billions to the counters. Yves Saint Laurent, Rive Gauche Homme, Dior Homme, Saint Laurent. And now, what? Chanel or Hedi Slimane? “I will design again but I will come back with the right project to maintain my passion for fashion, pure and intact”.
