CELEBRITIES
IN LOVE WITH THE GOLDEN GREECE

«Golden» Greece had no need for retouch. Neither for magic filters. It was then when famous people, celebrities of their times, posed for a photo with their friends, in their favourite island, away from the paparazzi, with no intention of narcissism. Τhey climbed Acropolis and “traveled” Greece to the rest of the world simply because it was (and it is) the most beautiful country in the world. And now? Today, when everybody is talking about Greek crisis, we reminisce Greece we all hide inside…

Selfies? What a joke… Portraits, yes! Unexpected, spontaneous, documents, little treasures.  The Onassis family. Jackie Kennedy-Onassis wearing her oversized sunglasses, a Gucci bag, black shirt and an airplane with the trademark of Olympic Airways as an “‘accessory”.  In total white, with flip-flops, and her signature sunglasses, again. Every hour of the day. Dark sunglasses appear in every yesterday’s snapshot. Aristotle Onassis wore them almost always. It’s the Greek light after all, so dazzling and charming at the same time.
Christina and Alexander, in a carelessness, that only a picture could, so successfully, capture and keep it untouched from the time.
Maria Callas with dark sunglasses and a white dress on the yacht of Aristotle Onassis, “Christina”. Again with Aristotle, at the beach, wearing a long caftan. 70’s. She wears a brown floral bikini and has her hair down. Happy, tanned. A diva.

Leonard Cohen in Hydra. In a swimsuit with his muse, Suzanne, and a vacant gaze. Sophia Loren, before and after the shooting of “Boy on a dolphin”. In a wet dress (no bra), well-combed hair (even when were wet), intense look and a belt to highlight even more her waist and bust. Tanned, she wears a  printed green dress and a scarf on the head, in a Grace Kelly-style. The ultimate diva, sexy, provocative, ethereal, she never stopped since then, to confide in her interviews her love for Greece.  Moments. Melina Mercouri in Hydra. Tied hair, white shirt, black trousers, and ballerinas. With a turban and orange pants. Walking and laughing with Anthony Perkins during the shooting of “Faidra”. Grace Kelly with all the members of the royal family of Monaco poses in the Acropolis scenery. Off-white buttoned dress with belt, matching scarf for the hair, sunglasses, and high heels, in a classic lesson of elegance under the sun.  Because Greece inspires, resists, and persists with or without flash.
