ART HOTELS: WHERE CREATIVITY AND STYLE MEETS

Art gets away from museums and galleries and entwines in our lives. It even shares our most intimate moments.
Apart from artworks in their venues, art hotels host exhibitions, concerts, workshops, installations, fab labs, libraries with special editions that offer “food for thought”. They become an authentic hospitality experience. Chosen artists and designers we wish to…cohabit with, in this case, is one of the basic criteria for booking our stay!

Le Collateral Arles // Best Art Hotels

In the city of Arles –once the stomping ground of Vincent Van Gogh– lies this medieval church that’s as much a gallery as it is a guest house, thanks to Anne-Laurence Schiepan and her husband, designer Philippe Schiepa. Together, they created a four-bedroom cultural hub, which also has a salon, a library, and a terrace. The rooms exude subtle luxury and are characterized by giant mirrors in the bathrooms. Artworks and sculptural lighting pieces fill the building. On the ground floor space can be transformed into a fab lab (fabrication library) or an exhibition room. Upstairs, a lot is happening: workshops, boot camps, conferences, live performances. And if they ask you to share with them your secrets, don’t hesitate for a moment: Their “Secret Service” satisfies every special query!

Best Art Hotels // New Hotel - Athens
New Hotel Athens // Best Art Hotels

An entirely new approach to young interior design at the former Olympic Palace, a landmark hotel for the Athenian architecture of the 50s. Hotels owner and international arts patron Dakis Ioannou commissioned the project to the Brazilian designers Fernando and Humberto Campana known for their eco-sensitive ethos and the use of contemporary handicraft practices. NEW is a “hotel experiment”, as characterized by the designers. For three years they created a workshop, in collaboration with Greek architects and designers who were asked to work with60 old objects of the Olympic Palace, designing new furniture and facilities. Drawn to their specific language, which in turn draws from urban street life, contemporary art, and the Sao Paulo favela culture, the designers resulted in a 79-room establishment. The unusual custom-made furniture and handmade fixtures make guests feel that they live in a major art installation.
