The woman who pioneered the use of grape extracts in skin care, talks about beauty, lifestyle, inspiration, and, of course, all things Caudalie.
What is the philosophy behind Caudalie?
I created Caudalie because I believe in beauty products that are not only effective but also natural and luxurious –this is the essence of the brand, which I am committed to each and every day. With my team of researchers and formulators, we search for the best products, textures, and scents and magnify the great ingredients taken from the vine. Our collaboration with Professor Vercauteren, a world specialist in polyphenols and Professor of Pharmacognosis at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Montpellier, has enabled us to file major patents: grape polyphenols, the most powerful antioxidants in the plant world, Resveratrol from grapevine and grapevine Viniferine. We have also discovered many other exclusive and active substances from it, including organic grape water, grape oil, and Vinolevure.
How do the customers respond to the idea of “natural-born” cosmetics?
Very well! People are more and more aware of the incredible powers of natural ingredients. All our patented molecules have been tested and their efficacy is proven –not to mention Resveratrol which has been proven to be the most powerful anti-ageing, natural molecule by the Faculty of Sciences of Harvard. Today consumers need products that are proven to be efficient and at the same time natural.

-What is your beauty routine?
I start with Micellar Cleansing Water. Afterwards, I use Vinosource SOS Thirst Quenching Serum, and –of course– Premier Cru La Crème and Premier Cru Eyes. Finally, a touch of Nars gloss!
-What kind of woman is the Caudalie customer?
She is a woman who wants products that combine efficacy, naturalness, and glamour. We try to have different textures and formulas to answer all skin expectations.
-Where do you draw your inspiration?
The grapevine is an inexhaustible source of natural wealth and it is my primary source of inspiration. Also, from everyday life, the city, listening to my consumers. Since we moved to New York, the city and our American consumers have inspired me a lot to create new products and the new packaging.
-How would you define beauty?
I keep it simple: a beautiful natural skin, a slim and fit silhouette, shiny hair, being in love…
