A ROSE IS A ROSE

Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.” This famous quotation was written by Gertrude Stein, as part of her 1913 poem “Sacred Emily” and ever since is often interpreted as meaning “things are what they are”, a statement of the law of identity…

THE INSPIRATION

Inspired by the painting of Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun that shows a portrait of Queen Marie Antoinette holding a Centifolia rose in her hand, master perfumer Francis Kurkdjian wanted to create a modern spin on the rose theme, sometimes seen as old-fashioned, giving it a modern way of expression.  L’eau À la Rose presents a new emotion in the form of an Eau de Toilette variation on the theme of the original À la Rose Eau de Parfum which was first created in 2014.

A POETIC NAME

For a delicate fragrance…

Like the caress of rose petals gathered at daybreak, this eau de toilette unfolds on the skin with delicate floral fruity freshness. This drop of perfumed water reflecting a bouquet of four hundred newly bloomed roses is radiant and airy.

The gentle floral freshness is composed of a bouquet of 400 fresh roses that includes two types: Damask rose oil from Bulgaria, with its fruity and spicy nuances, and Centifolia rose absolute from Grass, with its gorgeous floral and honeyed note.

Top notes: litchi accord, pear
Heart: Damask rose, Centifolia rose, peony, violet
Base: musk

“Even though l’eau À la rose is an eau de toilette, Francis Kurkdjian has given greater importance to rose in his formula, practically doubling its proportions. As a result, L’eau À la rose has a long lasting sillage.”
