RAIN BOOTS: HOW TO WEAR THEM
In her last season as creative director of Céline, Phoebe Philo introduced us to the new fashionable footwear presented in the pre-fall 2018 lookbook of the House; the rain boots. The heavy rubber-soled boots styled with a leather dress brought a new era to our wardrobes.
Since then, the trend of leather uppers set on lugged rubber soles in the form of ankle or knee boots holds firm, with Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Prada and Dior showing their version of the functional footwear season after season.
Put a luxurious spin on wet-weather staples with a pair of our favourite runway rain boots from AW21 while taking notes on how to style them.
pop of colour
Sleek and effortless, an all-black outfit is the epitome of autumn/winter dressing. The single shade has served many times as a real saver on those days we can’t decide what to wear. A closer look at Bottega Veneta’s AW21 lookbook, however, has convinced us to reconsider. Available in bright colours like green, pink and yellow, the smart-named puddle boot intends to keep our feet dry as we move through the rainy season. To ensure that your coloured rubber boots will pop, keep your outfit as minimal as possible.
SIMPLICITY
If you are a fan of simplicity and neutral colours from head-to-toe, focus on contrasting textures instead of colour. Pair a silk shirt with a knit bottom, like a cashmere skirt, to create a look that exudes comfortable elegance. Loose silhouettes pair particularly well these shoes as long as the hemline falls neatly on top of the boots.
dressing down
Pair your boots with cashmere short and oversized blazer. Get stylish by adding some colour though. For an effortless look opt for a loose knit instead of a shirt.
