Yrsa Daley-Ward, our favourite Instagram poet and one of the writers behind Beyoncé’s new film, Black Is King, teamed up with H&M on a loungewear collection that has that cool, mindful vibe that only a poet can radiate. Made from more sustainable materials, the soft and comfy garments are embellished with Daley-Ward’s empowering words.
When describing her personal style, Yrsa Daley-Ward says that it changes all the time. She cares a lot about sustainability and comfort. “I love to find new ways to wear a piece. Texture is everything to me—as is colour. I love the earth tones, weight and softness of this collection. It feels so good on the skin.”
WHAT DO YOU HOPE PEOPLE WILL FEEL WHEN APPROACHING THIS COLLECTION?
“I hope that with this collection, people will see something wearable, comforting and beautiful, perfect for wearing in and out of the home, and I hope they find comfort wearing the quotes on their body. These quotes are designed with self-love in mind.”
WHICH PIECE FROM THE COLLECTION IS YOUR FAVOURITE, AND WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT IT?
“It is difficult for me to choose a favourite piece. The ONE DAY EVEN THIS WILL BE HISTORY Tee is one of my favourites. I think the quote reflects the time, and I love the length and fall of the T-shirt. I love the sweatpants and top matching set in pale green most of all I think… the warmth and softness of it!”

HOW IMPORTANT ARE SELF-CARE AND SELF-LOVE IN TIMES LIKE THESE?
“In times like these, self-care and self-love are the absolute foundation to help us weather and cope against conditions that we cannot control. We have to take stock of our insides. We have to commit deep acts of care to ourselves before we have the energy for anything else. This is where we begin.”
DO YOU HAVE ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS THAT YOU ARE WORKING ON AT THE MOMENT?
“I’m currently working on a new untitled book, due out next year! I’m also writing screenplays for TV and film.”
