IS FACIAL OIL GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN?

Νot so long ago, “oil” was not the favourite word in the skincare world. It was something meant to be removed, not added to your face. But that was before we saw just how good for the skin the right facial oil can be and the positive role it can play in our skincare routine.

THE RIGHT CHOICE

Yes, face oils are your ally, provided you choose the right one for your particular skin type since -attention please!-, not all oils are created equal. There’s a real treasury of options out there that can do almost everything from the seal in moisture to balance excess oil production, even prevent breakouts.

Before you pick yours, acknowledge your needs, and pay attention to the product’s claims.

We asked Ms Chrysa Tzortzi, training manager Balkans Darphin, to site the most important reasons why we should make a dry face oil part of our daily skincare routine:

WHY YOU SHOULD TRY A DRY FACE OIL

  • It offers immediate and longer-lasting relief, compared to a cream or lotion. Oils have far more intense nourishing properties that most face creams, that can sometimes dry out the surface of the skin.
  • Face oils penetrate deeply (perhaps deeper than many face creams) because they are absolutely compatible with the skin’s structure (human dermis and epidermis consist mainly of lipids, sebum-producing glands, and special lipid blocks that keep cells together).
  • It is a better carrier for some important ingredients such as vitamin C and retinol, which penetrate deeper and give better results in oils than when included in standard face creams.
  • There is a face oil for every skin type (yes, even for oily skin!). Ingredients such as niaοuli, vetiver and chamomile have sebum regulating properties.
  • Always use as instructed. Excess quantity can prevent absorption or clog pores, less than the right amount will not deliver the right result.
