WHY ARE SHEARLING THE HOTTEST BAGS THIS WINTER
No matter what you call them – fluffy, teddy or furry – they are here to warm up the coldest days this season. Feel free to adore them!
Not without my “teddy”- otherwise known as the fluffiest trend in winter accessories. Shearling or fluffy bags, plushy, soft and with the appropriate dash of warmth the season requires, do not only appeal to Generation Z, as one would expect. The intervention of fashion houses such as Prada, Chloe, and Bottega Veneta changes everything and these must-have bags simple have no age – in fact, their soft texture offers stress-relieving qualities while also bringing some warmth to the coldest of days. Yet in their way, they are also a reminder of the sustainable version of accessories, especially in a time when fur products are becoming a thing of the past.
Of course, when it comes to shearling – processed lambskin – we just can’t get enough!
THE cASUAL LOOK
Their biggest secret? First of all, their seasonality. As soon as spring has sprung, teddy bags are stored in the back of our wardrobes but until then, they will have shared a positive energy and sense of lightness to our winter outfits. Especially now that fashion is embracing the après ski trend, a shearling bag could be matched with an oversized puffer or even sweater dresses. They also would emphatically complement an airy cape or signature knitwear, while generally adding a note of beauty to all everyday outfits. In this case, it could also be an oversized tote or a cross bag. For instance, the Dior Saddle Bag in its new version would boast bright camel skin and shearling with the famed CD logo on the shoulder straps. Just this piece would highlight an outfit with strong jean elements.
THE FORMAL VERSION
Yet when a shearling accompanies afternoon looks, it can acquire more classical tones and may become more formal. This is where a beige Falabella bag by Stella McCartney, featuring its gold chain, would give a glam shine to a roomy jacket, or to a mini outfit in preferably intense tones. Finally, the answer to the question regarding which shoes would match a bag like this is fairly simple. All types of shoes, even a pair of Moonboots – shearling matches with all. Even with snow.
CHLOÉ
Woody Large Shearling Tote
A roomy tote that is not logo shy made of shearling, leather and canvas. Comfortable for morning outings and even features a detachable wallet. It also matches wonderfully with loungewear while out shopping on a carefree Saturday.
JACQUEMUS
Le Chiquito Moyen
How does a classic bag transform into a piece that everyone notices? Jacquemus added soft shearling on the perimeter of the bag, as well as on its straps, thus adding a pop of colour. Intense colour; specifically a bright orange that matches with equally bright winter outfits, or even quieter, off-white or black pieces.
SAINT LAURENT
Kaia Small Shearling Cross-Body Bag
Saint Laurent renewed some iconic pieces by adding fluffy elements, and Kaia is no exception. Here the wool is combined with tan-coloured hide, creating a signature smallish bag with adjustable straps. Works well with a more dynamic look, for instance, a tailored jacket, as the metallic logo is like a piece of jewellery in its own right.
MM6 MAISON MARGIELA
Faux fur bucket bag
A bucket bag, rather shaggy, with lovely leather details such as the designer’s logo, in a soft off-white. Perfect with many different colors and styles, from the morning to the afternoon, and even for after-office drinks.
SAndro
Sheepskin Yza bag
This French fashion house’s bag is worn in two ways: either on the shoulder or in your hand with the handle facing upwards. The combination of leather and shearling in these colours makes it ideal for business meetings, as the chain gives it a more official feel.
MIU MIU
Shearling shoulder bag
Boasting extremely soft texture and rather classic colours, this bag is comfortable and can be worn with casual outfits. The detachable wallet makes it even more practical.
